For those of you with low vision:
This painting shows a porch with white shingled walls, blue doors, and some mullioned windows that reflect the view behind you… porch railings, a woman sitting at the top of steps, and a seascape beyond. So you are looking both ways at once. Through the window you see faint traces of the room within. In the corner of the window you see the face of a girl looking out toward you. The colors are whites, the greys of the shadows, especially the strong horizontal blue/grey shadow of the porch roof onto the wall, the blues of the woman's denim jacket, the distant ocean, and the more teal/blue color of the doors. And the patch of green grass in the reflection. It's a study in geometries: the posts and spindles of the porch railings, the shadows of the same, the window mullions, all interplaying with each other.
