This painting shows a brightly sunlit field of yellows behind a stone spring house in umbers and greys that stands in shadow in the foreground, in the long rectangle of the field's shadow that extends clear across the bottom third of the composition. Enclosing the spring house on the right is a dark everygreen tree that dominates the upper right corner of the painting. In the distance a hazy treeline fills a long rectangle across the upper quarter of the painting in pale grey greens, with a sliver of hazy pale blue sky. A farmhouse and two out buildings are barely visible in the trees.
