For those of you with low vision:
In layered images, reminiscent of a double exposed photograph, this painting depicts multiple intersecting perspectives. The main image shows a young woman holding a small boy with a background of blue water under a blue sky. The child is wearing a bright yellow life vest and the mother a white top, looking out onto choppy waves in the distance. The wind is blowing in their hair on a bright summer’s day. To the left, in overlapping perspective is the sketch of a vase of flowers perched on a window sill. On the top of the composition, is a thin band, alluding to a film strip, a panoramic shot of a seaside room with various views through multiple windows. Embedded within the paint are the nautical charts of the surrounding water.
