For those of you with low vision:
This panoramic painting is a seascape with the sun setting behind Mountain Bar Point, a tiny peninsula, sandy and strewn with seaweed, pointing out into grey/blue water at the southern end of Gibson Island. A storm just broke to reveal a stretch of blue sky under a crescent of the cloud front sweeping to the right, into a hot white of setting sun, silhouetting the stand of trees on the right at the foot of the peninsula. The surrounding water is still choppy, with flicks of the palette knife.
