This was the breakthrough for me… to try and combine images in one painting where the eye took them both in at once and wrestled with which one first… or how to process the two together, your mind’s eye flickering back and forth for an instance in a way that might invoke daydreaming. This was from one of my first attempts at double-exposing in-camera, with no idea which first image was getting the second image… Russian roulette.
For those with low vision:
In overlapping view, reminiscent of a double-exposed photograph, this painting depicts multiple intersecting perspectives. The primary composition depicts the view looking down through a paned window, past an adjacent porch, onto two children fixing a bicycle in the driveway of the home. Layered within the window panes and wall is the silhouette of a tree and landscape against the cloud speckled sky at sundown.
